Any creative applications for using iPods in school? Is anyone using them now? If so how?

I can see a usage in foreign language, for starters. What if students used their ipods/checked out ipods for listening activities? They could do it on-the-go, instead of having to sit at a computer to listen.
What about audio books downloaded from itunes? Wonder how you could make this work... I'd have to think it through. You can also download video to ipods; there could be some use there. And itunesU has all kinds of college lectures available for free - students could be required to lisent to lectures that connect to class topics, or they could search these lectures and use them as resources in the research projects.
I'm not sure these are terribly creative. This really interest me - ipods are so popular - but I'm still working through this in my head.
